Economic impact studies
It is often necessary to conduct economic impact studies in order to evaluate the net effect of changes to legislation, opening a business in a new geographic area or other similar situations. Often, these analyses rely on statistical models and mathematics to determine the quantitative impact in terms of percent changes or even in monetary terms.
Technical:
It is generally accepted that an individual's salary is a function of his socio-economic characteristics. We can then, for example, evaluate the impact of a reform that offers professional development to an individual who has recently become unemployed. An economic impact study determines whether this type of reform is sensible at the individual level and, by the same token, at the societal level.
